A Fun Card {just because}

Woo-hoo!!!

I am so excited to be crafting in my new studio space & it’s all set-up! I have tons of projects laying around on tables that need to be completed and here’s one I was able to squeeze in this week :)

I have a step-by-step tutorial for you too!

Supplies you’ll need: Sizzix VagabondSizzix Textured Impressions Mustache Set, Sizzix Framelits Primitive Stars Set, Lawn Fawn This Way To Fun Stamp Set, Memento Ink (tuxedo black), sanding block/sand paper, button, twine, wire (Darice 28 Guage gold wire), A2 cream card base, A2 cardfront (coredinations), patterned paper (October Afternoon’s Wax Bottles, Crate’s Farmers Market), Adhesives (3L’s Scrapbook Adhesives)

First, you want to emboss your cardstock. I used Coredinations Cosmo Cricket woodgrain cardstock to get a cool texture & for the added color core! Now, you may think the mustache is overplayed, but I think that by using the icon in an embossing folder that you give it a new life. Mostly, the  mustache has been used in a graphic sense. The embossing folder allows for a subtle vintage look! For thin materials your sandwich will be: platform, shim, plate, folder w/paper, cutting plate. For thick materials your sandwich will exclude the shim.

Now, you want to die-cut the primitive star framelits. Your sandwich will be the same: platform, shim, cutting plate, paper, die, cutting plate:

When you’ve embossed your cardstock, you can sand it with a sanding block to expose the inner core. I used a CTMH sanding block (it’s ancient, lol):

Next, you stamp your sentiment onto the cream colored star and stamp the little flag image onto the patterned paper. The stamp set is Lawn Fawn’s This Way To Fun. This set was designed exclusively for Studio Calico, so you’ll have to check with them if you’re interested:

For an added fun dimension, I created little gold wire antennae of sorts. You can use jewelry tools like I have or you can use a kabob/skewer:

Here’s a picture of the wire I used:

Now that you have all the cluster elements completed, you can adhere your A2 sized patterned paper to the cardbase and then adhere the embossed cardstock:

To adhere your button to the paper flag, I think it’s best to use a glue dot. I used the 3L Dodz:

Adhere the flag to the large star and use black foam dimensionals to adhere the star to the card. I used 3L’s Black foam squares:

Before you adhere the sentiment star with foam squares, be sure to add the gold antennae thingies (I don’t have a better name for them, HA). Oh and please excuse the blurry picture! I just wanted you to be able to see how I adhered them.

Now you have a well put together masculine card!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll have lots of Lawn Fawn projects to showcase this week :)
