Hello Blogosphere!
If you follow me on Pinterest and Instagram, you know I’ve been scoping out different Organizers & Planners! A fellow crafty girl, Lisa, inspired me after she started to seek out a planner system for herself. At first, I was like “I use iCal & Google Calendar. That seems to work.” But, then I realized…no, it doesn’t work. It isn’t working! I’ve missed deadlines more times than I’d like to admit & have forgotten commitments to my family and friends as well. My system wasn’t working.
Enter Filofax.
Finally a system that is fully customizable that includes a quality user-friendly stream-lined planner! I couldn’t wait to begin. But, how do I navigate all the options? I scoured Pinterest & Instagram which led me to some incredible resources!
Here’s my system using Marcy Penner’s Color Edition:

Here are some of my tips for when you’re searching for a system that works for you:
- SIZE, STYLE, FEEL, LOOK: Look at what’s in your local stationary and office supply stores. See what you like or don’t like. Take note of quality or the kinds of pages, print-outs, and sections you’d like to see in your planner. Also, take note of the size.
- PINTEREST: Pinterest led me to some wonderful resources. I searched “filofax”, “filofax A5″, “filofax pocket”, and “filofax printables”.
- INSTAGRAM: There’s a whole world of planner addicts! Seriously, it even has its own hashtag. I looked up the same terms as perviously noted, but with hastags in front. This led me to a whole world of planner fanatics!
- ETSY: So many people are designing their own printables out there! That’s how I found Marcy Penner’s Color Edition. She also has a charcoal edition!
- YOUTUBE: I watched several youtube videos to see how people were using their planner(s). This is an invaluable insider’s look into what you’re getting yourself into!
- BLOG: The Official Filofax Blog
- FREE: Look at the free resources & printables out there! The Philofaxy Blog has awesome printables for nearly all Filofax sizes and even has detailed dimensions!
- SHOP AROUND: Price Compare while you shop around! Look on Amazon, Ebay, and the Filofax website.
- FACEBOOK GROUPS: If you are trying to look for a hard-to-find color, look on Facebook: Filofaxes and Pens For Sale
- FUN: Have fun while getting your act together! Treat yourself to nice pens and office supplies
- LATEST & GREATEST: Filofax is posting new planners for spring/summer within the next couple of months!!!
Here are the products I used:
- Marcy Penner’s Color Edition Printables (A5 & Personal resized to 80%)
- Washi Tapes. There’s a wonderful selection of tapes and clips at Freckled Fawn!
- Frixion Clicker Erasable Pens by Pilot
- Map Dot Stickers 1/8″
- Office Depot Black & White Paper Clips
- Filofax Domino A5 Black
- Filofax Pocket Cover Story 2013
- We R Memory Keepers Crop-a-dial (can punch approximately 20 sheets of computer paper at a time)
