I purchased the Telephoto Lens for the iPhone when Photojojo first broke the news! Sadly, it was on backorder, so I was an eager beaver when it arrived! The folks at Photojojo rock so much they included a little toy dino with my purchase It’s the little things, I tell ya! If you don’t remember, I purchased the wide angle/macro and fisheye lenses a while back and thoroughly enjoy them. You can read my review about them here.
In my personal opinion, the Telephoto lens for the iPhone is MUCH better!
It comes with a case which acts like a mount for the lens (so no sticky magnetic rings & residue to hassle with), a tripod with photo connector/adapter, a carrying case, and a cleaning cloth. The head on the tripod is telescopic, so it rotates all around!
It is a fixed lens (so no zooming in and out) with 8x magnification. Here are some before and after shots:
The lens is excellent for taking those hard to reach photos! I am genuinely impressed with this little thing.
Pros:
It’s lightweight and portable, it takes excellent pictures with minimal vignetting (which you can crop out), it comes with an external case/lens mount, it’s inexpensive at $35, you do not need to use the tripod for clear shots.
Cons:
You will get some vignetting, the threading on the lens and case is plastic so it will wear if not handled delicately, the shots aren’t crystal clear (but it’s still great quality for a plastic lens).
I took my photos a step further by using Instagram for iPhone 4:
So, what do you think?
I think it’s totally worth the $35, especially for people like me that keep the good DSLR at home for the serious photography 😉
Thank You Photojojo for bringing us an awesome product!
